1. ONLINE APPLICATION STEPS
- This form should only be used by Indian nationals who want to apply for a PAN. This form should also be used by Indian citizens living outside of India.
- The applicant will first register by choosing Form 49A, along with the applicant’s category and title, and filling out the needed information before submitting. Before the applicant fills out the form, a token number will be produced and presented. For reference, this token number will be delivered to the e-mail address given in the application form. By utilizing this temporary token number, the applicant may preserve the information supplied in the application form so that they can be seen and updated by the applicant prior to final submission.
- When filling out an online PAN application, the applicant may choose from one of four choices.
- A response identifying the error(s) will be presented on the screen if the data supplied passes any format level check. The applicant must correct any errors and submit the form again.
- If no format level errors exist, a confirmation page displaying the applicant’s data will be presented.
- The applicant has the option to update or confirm the information.
2. PAYMENT
If you need a physical PAN card, you must:
When filling out the PAN application form, the applicant must specify if a physical PAN card is necessary. If the applicant chooses a physical PAN card, the card will be printed and sent to the communication address. If an e-mail address is supplied in the PAN application form, an e-PAN card in PDF format will be sent to that address. The following fees are applicable:-

If you don’t need a physical PAN card:
If a physical PAN card is not needed, the PAN applicant must note this while submitting the application. In such circumstances, an email address will be required, and the PAN applicant’s e-PAN Card will be provided to that address. In such instances, a physical PAN card will not be sent. The following fees are applicable:-

If any of the addresses listed on the web form, such as the office or residence address, is a foreign address, payment may be made by credit card, debit card, Net banking, or Demand Draft payable in Mumbai (written in favor of ‘Protean – PAN). This feature is currently accessible for a limited number of countries.
Applicants from other countries should contact Protean using the information listed in point (5).
If you apply online using the e-KYCe-Sign paperless application/ e-Sign scanned based/ DSC scanned based option (rather than the physical approach), you can only pay with a credit card, debit card, or net banking.
On the back of the demand draft, the applicant’s name and the acknowledgement number should be written.

An acknowledgement will appear after a successful credit card, debit card, or net banking payment. The applicant must save and print the acknowledgement before sending it to Protean as described in point ‘u – Mode of Document Submission’ below.
