Documents Required – Individuals and HUF

Identification Proof Address Verification (Proof should contain the address mentioned in the PAN application form)
No need for an attestation – No need for an attestation –
1. Passport photocopy 1. Passport photocopy
2. A copy of the Government of India’s Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card, or 2. A copy of the Government of India’s Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card, or
3. A copy of the Government of India’s Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, Or 3. A copy of the Government of India’s Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, Or
Attestation is needed –

4. A copy of any other national or citizenship identification number or taxpayer identification number duly attested by “Apostille” (in the case of countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961) or by the Indian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate in the country where the applicant is located, or by authorised officials of overseas branches of Scheduled Banks registered in India (in prescribed format)

4. A copy of your bank account statement from your home country, or
5. A copy of your NRE bank account statement in India, or
6. Copy of a Certificate of Residence in India or a State Police Authority’s Residential Permit, or
7. A copy of the Foreigner’s Registration Office’s registration certificate with an Indian address, or
8. A copy of the visa granted, a copy of the Indian company’s employment letter or contract, and an authentic certificate of Indian address provided by the employer.
Attestation is needed –
9. Copy of other national or citizenship identification number or taxpayer identification number, duly attested by “Apostille” (in the case of countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961) or by the Indian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate in the country where the applicant is located, or authorised officials of overseas branches of Scheduled Banks registered in India (in prescribed format).
Note: If a foreign citizen’s application includes an Office Address (in India), the following papers must be submitted as evidence of office address in addition to any of the aforementioned residency proofs: I. Copy of Indian Company’s appointment letter/contract; II. Certificate (in original) of applicant’s address in India issued by authorized signatory of employer on employer’s letterhead specifying the employer’s PAN; and III. Copy of PAN card for the PAN indicated in the employer’s certificate.

Firm, BOI, AOP, AOP (Trust), Local Authority, Company, Limited Liability Partnership, and Artificial Juridical Person are examples of categories other than individuals and HUF.

For applicants other than individuals and HUF, the following papers are admissible as evidence of identity and address:
