PAN applications must be submitted in the revised format stipulated by the ITD from April 8, 2012. Only amended Form 49A would be accepted for ‘Application for allocation of new PAN’ by Indian nationals.

Only the newly announced Form 49AA will be accepted for foreign nationals’ ‘Application for allocation of new PAN.’

Individual and HUF applicants must provide Proof of Office Address together with Proof of Residential Address to Protean for New PAN applications filed on or after November 1, 2009, if Address for Communication is specified as Office.

According to RBI requirements, organizations conducting e-commerce transactions must submit a PIN (Personal Identification Number) while completing a transaction online. As a result, before paying for online PAN/TAN applications using a credit/debit card, make sure you have the PIN from your respective banks.

Application for allocation of a new PAN (Form 49A) – for Indian citizens

When an applicant has never applied for a PAN or has not been assigned one, this form should be utilized. An applicant may check the website of the Income Tax Department (ITD) to see whether he has been assigned a PAN.

Foreign nationals must fill out Form 49AA, which is an application for a new PAN.

PAN Card Reproduction

When an applicant’s PAN has already been assigned to them but they still need a PAN card, they should utilize this application. The applicant is given a new PAN card with the identical PAN information.

(A) PAN applicants may now apply for a reprint of their PAN card online (only if no data changes are necessary) by clicking here. This service is only available to PAN holders whose most recent PAN application was processed via Protean and/or the e-Filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Users will not be able to modify their PAN information using this service.

(B) If an applicant’s communication address, according to Protean’s latest records, is an Indian address, the applicant must pay an online charge of $50 (including of taxes), and if it is a foreign address, the applicant must pay a cost of $959 (included of taxes).

(C) There is no need to submit any application forms or supporting papers in order to complete this PAN card reprint request. Please see the guidelines for further information.

An applicant may also apply for a reprinted PAN card using the standard online PAN application process, which is detailed below.

(A) The applicant should not tick any of the check boxes on the form’s left margin when filling it out. However, since this location will be updated in ITD records, the check box for Item no. 7 Address for Communication will be selected by default.

PAN Data Correction/Modification

When a PAN has already been assigned to an applicant, but the applicant wishes to make a modification or adjustment to the PAN data, this application should be utilized. The applicant will get a new PAN card with the same PAN number but updated information.

In order to update the information, appropriate check boxes in front of the essential core details (i.e. name, father’s name, date of birth) should be chosen.
